Deputy Head of Conservation

The Pitt Rivers Museum is seeking a Deputy Head of Conservation. The postholder will be responsible for the active and preventative conservation of museum artefacts, determining and implementing a programme of conservation treatments, and managing appropriate documentation systems.

Reporting to the Head of Conservation, and deputising for them when required, this role will include responsibilities for Museum projects, such as storage upgrades and research on collections, offering support and assistance as well as expert advice.

You will support the loans programme of museum objects to other national and international institutions. You will also work with the Museum Administrator to manage, implement and develop the Museum's Emergency Plan and advise staff on health and safety aspects of the collection.
