Helena Hamerow is Professor of Early Medieval Archaeology and a member of the School of Archaeology and the History Faculty. Her research focuses on the archaeology of rural communities in early medieval Europe, particularly in the North Sea Zone. She is especially interested in the impact of lordship, monasteries and towns on farmers and on the early medieval countryside.
