Object Handling Every Saturday

Every Saturday 11.00 - 13.00 Free family friendly object handling in the Pitt Rivers. Discover more about wonderful and fascinating objects from the museum’s collection.

Fun ways to explore the museum and discover more about our exciting collections. Make something super to take home. FREE drop-in activities for children aged 5+ and special activities designed for under 5s. All children must be accompanied by an adult.


Monday 22 October - Wednesday 24 October, 13.00 - 16.00

Community Ambassadors Taiwo, Amantha and Euton invite you in to the Museum to hear the sounds of African-Caribbean life. Listen to Winifred's journey as she gets ready for school in 1940s St Kitts, hear the sounds of Oxford's African and Caribbean Society choir and handle objects connected to stories of the Caribbean. Hear their stories and then tell your own through our creative writing session, This is Me.

Thursday 25 October - Friday 26 October, 13.00 - 16.00

As part of our celebrations for Black History Month, handle objects selected by the community and find out more about Black History. Free drop-in session.

Saturday 3 November, 10.30 - 12.30 & 13.30 - 15.30 ( £16.50 per child, with free accompanying adult place)

Work with textiles designer makers to create your own beautiful clothwork. For booking details, please call 01865 613031.
