Immerse yourself in the art of beadwork during a beginner-friendly workshop led by Yukon First Nation artists. Join Shirlee Frost, a master beadwork artist of the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation, along with Lisa Dewhurst, Lenita Alatini (Kluane First Nation), and Kailen Gingell (Kwanlin Dün First Nation), to craft your own vibrant beaded pin.

During the workshop, you'll explore various bead layout techniques through hands-on demonstrations and step-by-step guidance, as well as insights into other materials used in beadwork. Each registrant will receive a comprehensive kit featuring a beading cabochon, an assortment of coloured seed beads, thread, a beading mat, beading needles and backing.

This workshop coincides with the opening of the Honouring Our Future: Yukon First Nations Graduation Regalia exhibition, a collaboration between the Yukon Arts Centre and the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre. Curated by Indigenous curator Lisa Dewhurst, the exhibition will showcase regalia from across the Yukon and will be hosted at Canada House in London from 13 June to 6 October 2024. Join us in celebrating Indigenous culture and craftsmanship through this enriching workshop experience.

The Yukon Arts Centre and the Kwanlin Dün First Nation Centre thank our funders Canada Council for the Arts and Yukon Government.
