Celia Ward talks about the New Year, ancient but ongoing tradition of Masquerade in North East Romania and its relationship to village life in communist and post-communist Romania. The talk will be illustrated with photos of masquerades and paintings and drawings made by the speaker whilst in Romania from 2002-2005.
