The Pitt Rivers Museum can provide a fascinating and unique venue for your event, as it is one of the world's greatest museums of anthropology and world archaeology. Guests can relax, mingle and chat as they wander between cases displaying a vast array of intriguing artefacts from all corners of the world and many periods of human history.
There is something for everyone here. With thousands of inspiring talking points, the Museum provides a mentally stimulating experience, giving that added dimension to any event.
Private and corporate events
The awe-inspiring Museum Court (ground floor) can accommodate parties of up to 200 guests for drinks receptions or finger buffets. Audio equipment may be provided for speeches or small musical events. Costs are from £500 per hour.
The modern Museum Lecture Room can seat 70 people and is fully adaptable for either formal lectures or smaller, more exclusive meetings. Costs are from £100 per hour.
The Blackwood Room can seat 15 around a table or 30 lecture theatre style and benefits from a small kitchenette area for the provision of refreshments. Costs are from £35 per hour.
Both the Lecture Room and Blackwood rooms are equipped with modern audio-visual equipment and Wi-fi.
An additional £250 is chargeable for caterers’ and cleaners’ setting up/down time. Hire charges include the provision of Front of House and Security Staff.
We are able to provide private guided tours of the Museum for groups of up to 15 people. Guided tours are charged at a flat rate of £50.
We have three approved caterers providing an excellent range of menus and service. All catering costs are additional to room hire and the hirer contacts the caterer directly.

The Museum Court is available to hire outside normal opening hours. Conferences, meetings and seminars can be booked in the Lecture Room and Blackwood Room during both the day and evening, subject to availability.
Museum opening hours: 12.00 – 16.30 Monday and 10.00 - 16.30 Tuesday to Sunday and Bank Holidays.

Disabled parking spaces may be available, please state at time of booking or contact reception: 01865 270927. There is no other parking at the Museum please see Oxfordshire County Council website for further details on travel information.
