Maintenance Technician

Grade 3: £20,092 - £22,847 pro rata, 0.6 FTE

The Pitt Rivers Museum requires a maintenance technician to support the Head of Facility Management in a Grade 1 listed building, research centre and offsite storage.

The post holder must be qualified in, or demonstrate by experience, good maintenance skills such as painting and the repair of a range of fixtures and fittings. Ideally the post holder will also have experience in working with machines in a woodworking workshop. The work can also include manual handling and working at height. A knowledge of Health and Safety in the workplace is key. Proactive maintenance is essential, as well as reactive maintenance with a problem-solving ability. The post holder will also be involved in the setting and testing of fire and intruder alarm systems, ladder inspections, erection of mobile scaffolding and the use of a MEWP, plus PAT testing and basic electrical competency (training will be arranged). A current driving licence is essential. The post holder will also work with external contractors when directed. A sound knowledge of AV is also required. Knowledge of building air-conditioning systems is desirable but not essential.

The post is currently 0.6 FTE but there is scope for overtime at weekends and in the evenings.
